Hi there!
(Although my English is even more rusty I'll give it a try ;-D)

The German *forename* Lutz is celebrated as name day at October 25th - both in the catholic and the evangelic calendar. It is a modern variant of Ludwig and originates from the Old High German "hluth" (famous) and "wig" (fight, war).
I haven't found any information that the reason for celebrating the name day at October 25th has to do with St. Crispin. The (European) catholic church is celebrating the day in remembrance of the sanctification of Ludwig IX of France in 1297 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_IX_of_France).
The feast day of Saints Crispin and Crispinian is also celebrated on October 25th but has nothing to do with the celebration of a name day, I'm sorry.
Did you know that Lutz is a very common last name in German speaking countries? Do you have ancestors there?
With best regards, Andreas.

Gruß Dich!
My German is rusty at best so I'll just write in English and pray you can translate,

My last name is Lutz and I saw it under your name day for October 25th (Which is also St. Crispin's day, which was made famous by a certain battle in 1415 also on that day.)
I was just here to confirm whether or not that was really true, because if I share the same name day as one of my favorite historical figures I thought that'd be... well, neat.

Reply here or e-mail me, whatever would be more convenient.

Danke!

Hallo Herfort!
